PARKS AND RECREATION PROJECT UPDATES
Station Six (Parks Operations Building)
Site construction was completed this fall for the new facility. Currently, building finish out is being completed which includes plumbing, electrical, etc.
Mansfield Parks, Recreation and Trails Master Plan
The Parks, Recreation, Open Space & Trails Master Plan was adopted by the Mansfield Park Facilities Development Corporation and City Council. The purpose of this Parks and Recreation Master Plan is to update the previous plan prepared in 2002 by reviewing the goals and priorities and providing an assessment of Mansfield's parks, trail system and open spaces.
Skate Park
The final conceptual plan for the park located at 1008 E. Broad St. was accepted by City Council. The City Council has directed staff to consider other options for the park that include parking and other amenities.
West Broad Landscape Improvements
Landscape and irrigation improvements for the newly constructed West Broad St were completed in fall 2009.
Existing Park Improvements
Rose Park Lighting improvements were completed in Dec 09. This includes the removal of some existing lighting and the addition of new poles and lights to provide better lighting throughout the park. Chandler Park tennis courts will be resurfaced this spring/summer 2010. City Staff is also working to provide trail markers along Walnut Creek Linear Trail to help visitors identity their location better while using the trail.
